I just recently installed Fallout 3 on my mac using crossover games. However, when i click play, a black windowed screen pops up followed by a pop up message saying "Failed to initialize renderer Unknown error creating the Gamebryo Renderer" What does this mean and how can i fix it?
This game is broken. It insists (without any reason) that the graphics driver is either named "nv4_disp.dll" or "ati2???.dll" (don't know the exact name). Ours is named "winex11.drv", which the game doesn't like. If you run it with some odd GPU on Windows(say, a SiS GPU) you'll get the same problem.
There are some registry keys in Wine(and thus CrossOver) that allow you to override the display driver name. See http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys, and search for the game in our Compatibility database or appdb.winehq.org.
