This might be a stupid question... but... Which download should I use for games? I can download 3 packages, CrossOver Standard 8.0.1/Pro 8.0.1/Games 7.2.2. Going purely by version number, 8.0.1 sounds like the newest, greatest version. On the other hand the other one is called CrossOver Games. But, to make things even more confusing, on the sales page it says that CrossOver Pro includes games... At this point my head is spinning with information overload :/. Which one is the newest & best option for mainly games and a few simple apps?
I am currently using CrossOver Games 7.2.2, but obviously, if 8.x is a newer version, that is what I would want to switch to right?
Yes, for games you would use crossover-games (although there are a few
games that run under normal crossover as well). With regards versioning,
crossover-games 8.0 is currently being tested and should be out soon. Note
'soon' means as soon as it's ready - current testing is at rc1....
Be also aware, if you buy a license for crossover-pro, that license entitles
you to use crossover-games as well.
And yes, once crossover-games 8.0 is final and 'out there', you would upgrade
your 7.2.2 version to latest and greatest (at your own discretion of course ;)
Is there any way to get the RC1 now since I am currently getting my system ready for Snow Leopard and will be installing it really soon... It seems like the 8.x branch is happier with SL compared to the 7.x branch... All you have to do with 8.x is have X11 installed which I need anyway for GIMP.
Just as an update, RC1 is looking pretty good now. We're still trying to get 2 issues with Steam fixed, and hope that we can ship Monday(We never ship Fridays).
