Trying to run Access I get a Visual C++ error

boy if I can get Crossover to work, I'll be ahappy camper, and thrilled to upgrade my demp to full copy.

All I want to do is run access. To this point, I have used VMware Fusion to do so, but it's a huge workaround to run a database program once in a while, and takes up 40GB of my hard Drive!

Anyhow, I discovered Crossover today, and have tried it. It ran ie6 perfectly, a handy thing to have to get into my business web banking, that only likes explorer. I cannot, however run Access. I get a dialogue box w "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" as the titel, and the content of the box is:

Runtime Error!

Program C:\Program Fils\Microsoft Office\Office12\MSACCESS.EXE

R6034
An Application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Any chance anybody can sort me out?

Cheers,

R

Hi,

Try installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redist. from within
cxinstallwizard -- on Mac, to see this runtime dependency target
you will need to uncheck 'hide all service pack & dependencies'
....see;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/docs/crossover-mac/mac-preferences-installer

As we attempt to try and keep all app/game information 'all in the one place'
around here, if you have any further queries about running Access in crossover,
please post any other queries to the appropriate forum...see;

Cheers!

Not a lot of info in the Access 97 forum. Only two threads, neither of which pertain to this matter.

I installed the package described above, rebooted for good measure (old habits die hard), and got the exact same message. Perhaps I need to install the 2008 package instead? I am running Snow Leopard BTW, and have already installed X11.

Would still love to get this going.

It looks like you're on Access 97, but have you tried any of the other tips in the other Access forums?

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=150;tips=1

For a newer version of Access than 97, it appears it needs the 2008 package and some other dependencies? I'd try the VC+ 2008 first and then potentially try the others.

Admittedly, I was tired and lazy last night. Tried all of that tips page, then found this:

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=3907

Access 2007 is known not to run. Bummer.

No problem. On WineHQ:

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=16862

It looks like they've got some things going with Wine 1.1.33 but with limited functionality as well. Crossover is still on 1.1.25, the next version of Crossover looks like it'll be past 1.1.33 so you may need to wait until then.
