I have an iMac running Snow Leopard. I have successfully installed a few Windows programs in CrossOver 9.0.1 (Forte Agent, Adobe Reader, Pic_View, Picasa) but can't get IrfanView 4.25 to install.
Following other tips, I have copied mfc42.dll from my Win XP system to c:/windows/system32 in the bottle, but it doesn't help.
The Crossover log complains about other Windows DLLs, but when I copy them all over, one still fails to initiate (KernelBase.dll) . IrfanView never appears in the bottle. I have tried XP, Vista and Other Application bottles.
The IrfanView installation file I am using is ivew425_setup.exe, and it installs and runs OK on my WIn XP and Win 7 PCs.
I have contacted Dr. J-P. Christopher Jackson, who gave IrfanView 4.10 a Gold Star on the Compatibility list, but his advice to try 4.10 didn't work for me either.
I feel I must be doing something wrong, but can't put my finger on it.
Well first up. if you need mfc42.dll just install the Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Redistributable
package included in the crossover installation targets - that way you get a 'clean' version of
this dll installed 'properly'...
As for the app itself, some of the reading over at wineHQ looks of interest ;
I finally got it sorted.
For the mfc42.dll I had downloaded from Microsoft and installed vcredist_x86.exe, whereas I should have used vc6redistsetup_enu.exe
IrfanView 4.25 is working now (in a Win2000 bottle).
everytime that i have used irfanview with crossover,
i have always just copied over the programs folder
that irfanview installs to, from a windows computer.
i can't remember the last time that i actually installed
irfanview in crossover. granted, i don't get a menu listing
for irfanview, but it always works just fine for me.
