When launching a program, its icon shows for just a second in the dock and disappears

I installed two windows programs today: a stock charting and a stock search program from the same maker. One works and the other doesn't. When I click on the program the icon appears in the dock for a second and disappears. It seems to have installed correctly including a necessary reboot. The program is not in the supported list (Worden TeleChart and StockFinder). Currently it resides in Z:Applications/Crossover/Worden Brothers Inc folder. It did say to work it needed to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and put it in a Utils folder that resides in Z:Applications/Crossover/Worden Brothers Inc folder.

If you have any suggestions on how to get it running, I would be grateful. Thanks!

Hi,

If the program actually requires .NET 3.5 then it's a no go at present.
Crossover/wine currently only provides supports for .NET 1.0/2.0/3.0 (using
a recent wine-1.1.4x branch and winetricks, you can get .NET 2.0 SP2 to install
as well)...but here in crossover, .NET 3.0 is the most recent version supported.
Until the .NET 3.5 package is supported (which I believe requires the .NET 2.0
service packs to work first before 3.5 will install/work), you might be stuck...

Cheers!

I need to at least try it with .NET 3.0. Otherwise I can maybe go back to the maker and see if they have an older version that requires an older version of .NET

Where can I get .NET 3.0? And will I be able to install it on my Mac? Thanks for the info.

Just search for "net" in CrossOver's Software Installer window. It's listed under Runtime Support Components, as I recall. CrossOver will take care of downloading it, etc.
