I Just need some LOTRO help......

Well, I downloaded crossover games, but I'm new to anything like this. I tried downloading PyLotro from the downloads option, and then downloaded Siege of Mirkwood from there too. However, when I try to start it, the launch screen fails to load worlds, language, etc. I'm pretty sure I did something wrong, but I have no Idea what.

I'm going through the same thing alex. I'm a little closer than you to getting this thing going. Ill tell you what I know so far and when I get mine working, which i'm expecting to get it going tonight, I'll post what I have found. First you need to make sure you have the correct crossover, not crossover or crossover pro....but crossover(CXG). Now, how do you know the correct one, i'm not sure that is why i posted again LOL. but I do know the correct one is CXG. Next, the big thing that hung me up is... Siege of Mirkwood. The old clients are now gone..the new ones do not work. You can't download the client from LOTRO.com anymore. You either have to use the newer discs, siege of mirkwood, not the older ones. You can also download an older version of the client.... http://games.on.net/file/29275/The_Lord_of_the_Rings_Online_Shadows_of_Angmar__Mines_of_Moria_Full_Client_USOceania
This is supposed to work but I'm not taking the time to DL the 9.2 Gbs of info to try it. I'm just using my discs. Anyway, something else I learned is that you can open pylotro, go to the options menu and point to the correct directory, which is the file The Lord of the Rings, not just turbine. Anyway, this is just from someone also trying to get this to work...I'm not a tech guy from gameweaver or anything like that... I hope this helps.

Chris

Thanks, I really appreciate someone helping through this.

The best place for LOTRO help is the Crossover LOTRO forum, not here in the general forum.

Finding it on Codeweavers is "fun"...

Go to www.codeweavers.com/compatibilityh

At the right of the page in the search box, type Lord of the Rings
You will get a list of 8 versions... The first two -- Turbine inc. are LOTRO.
App Id: 2869

The first link "Lord of the Rings Online" takes you to a summary page. This page links to the second link.
The second link"Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirkwood" is the home page.

Note. The "Screenshot" is rotating... and can be confusing you to think you hit a different page than "last time."

At the top of the page are tabs for the "Forum" and "Tips and Tricks."
The tips and tricks are tagged Crossover Games 8.1.4, but are still accurate for 9.0.

At any rate... make certain to read the tips and tricks. They tend to cover about 90% of all problems and questions.

Umm...I tried to set the directory to PyLOTRO, but it still can't load the languages. If it's not too much to ask, could you give this idiot step by step directions?

Hey bro...i got mine working so far...it loaded but said i needed to patch..it is patching as we speak.... uhm ok. under PyLOTRO, click on tools, top left had corner of the window, then options... hit set path.....it should open up within the bottle..make sure the path is set to the folder inside of Turbine...not Turbine itself......the lord of the rings folder..inside the turbine folder... as soon as you set it...click the PyLOTRO window again in the middle of it...it should bring up an option to enable a patch.dll file or something...just hit save..or ok..or done...or whatever the finishing button is..you should se it immediately fix that issue...then go to tools again and manually patch the lord of the rings game..which should at this point already be installed inside the same bottle....hit start...wait forever..then play...oh ya and that guy is totally right..i read probably 100 posts last night..the tips and tricks section covers just about every question you could possibly have..it is on one page of reading...thanks codeweaver

I don't seem to have a Turbine folder......

Anyway, thanks for the help, you've been great guys. I'll check the FAQ's and figure this out eventually. You don't have to waste any more time here.

I'm another newb, and just tried downloading the full "Mines of Moria" client from the link on the "Tips & Tricks" page -- and after about 4 hours it finished, and then said there was an error, and my browser couldn't unzip the file because it wasn't supposedly downloaded. Is this because I am downloading a Windows / PC file onto a Mac? Anyway, nothing in the various step-by-step descriptions has seemed to work for me the way it has been described.

I have bought codeweavers CrossOver Games 9.1. I have tried downloading the full client. I already have a LOTRO account. But I can't get anything to work on my Mac. Nothing seems straight forward at all.

For what it's worth, I am using a MacBookPro laptop, with OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). What am I doing wrong??!
