My installed applications can't save data to disk

This has been a problem for a couple years, with CrossOver 8 (or 7?) through 9.1 (my current version). MBP (Merom) with 10.6.5

None of my installed programs can save successfully. This includes preferences & favorites in Explorer, and the Save command. Although there is some weirdness here. For example, Magic Set Editor 2 manages to create its set file, and write 104 bytes of file header (PK zip format, FWIW) to disk, but trying to write the actual data contents triggers an error:

can't seek on file descriptor -1 (error 3: path not found)
can't open file "\var\folders\fj\randomgibberishstring-Tmp-\msea131.tmp" (error 3: path not found)

However, the preincluded programs that came with CrossOver (Notepad, WinMine, etc) are able to save to disk without any problem.

Any suggestions?

Hello Frankie
It sounds like your permissions may be off. Have you repaired the permissions with Disk Utility yet?

Thanks, but yes I repair permissions, et al, a few times a year with OnyX. I did it again just now with the actual Disk Utility.app, but the same error still occurs in CrossOver.
