Com Port Help - Setting up ComPort 1

Hi,

I have read your FAQ at http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/USBtoSerial. I have followed the instructions, however it still says com port not found. I think I have not put the correct string in at "your device here".

my commands in terminal were:

Macintosh-5:dosdevices Annaliese$ ls
c: e:: g:: i:: k:: m:: o:: q::
d: f: h: j: l: n: p: x:
d:: f:: h:: j:: l:: n:: p:: y:
e: g: i: k: m: o: q: z:
Macintosh-5:dosdevices Annaliese$ ln -s usbserial-A9006LfX com1
Macintosh-5:dosdevices Annaliese$ ls
c: e: g: i: k: m: o: q: z:
com1 e:: g:: i:: k:: m:: o:: q::
d: f: h: j: l: n: p: x:
d:: f:: h:: j:: l:: n:: p:: y:

However, I think I was supposed to put in one of:

tty.usbserial-A9006LfX or
cu.usbserial-A9006LfX

as these are the two extra files that come up in /dev when I connect the device.

Can I remove the link to Com1, or edit it to the correct one, and which file should I use?

Thanks, Maarten

actually, I found the rm command and made it work... but I still have a COM Port not found error with either file. I am directing my app to look at Com1:, 57600 8n1 and XonXof as requested by the supplier of the device.... :S

The command you should have used to create the link would be something like:
ln -s /dev/cu.usbserial-A9006LfX com1
So, first, it include "/dev/" to make it the complete path. And, second, it include the "cu." or "tty." to make it the complete name.
