Is it possible to install Crossover on an external drive (and have it install its "bottles" on the external drive also)?

Is it possible to install Crossover on an external drive and have it create and run its "bottles" on the external drive also? I have tried to get this to work but it seems that Crossover keeps putting its "Drive C" on my iMacs internal hard drive and all the bottles are therefore installed on the external drive also. Thanks

I have CrossOver installed in /Applications on the Mac's internal SSD, and I've put my bottles on an external USBC SSD. It works great. Is this what you meant?

That would work also. But I don’t see how to instruct Crossover where to install the bottles. If you or someone could explain how to do that it would help. Thanks.

And it doesn't matter where the Crossover application itself is kept. The location for the little preference and license files cannot be changed.

Thanks to the two people who helped me with explaining how to have the Crossover bottles of my three Diablo games on my external drive. Saved a lot of space on my iMacs internal drive.

I blogged here how I moved specific bottles out to an external SSD instead of having all bottles default to a different location. This allows me to pick and choose where I want which bottles to be. TL;DR: I move the bottle and then create an alias to point it to the new location on the external drive.

Dead link
