is it possible to install Lingoes with the help of Crossover? Thanks
instead of asking if it is possible to install have you tried getting it to install yourself you can even submit the application if it is not in the database

Hi,
Having a look over at WineHQ, the suggestion is you firstly need to install
Microsoft Internet 6.0 and the corefonts package -- these targets are available
in the cxinstaller -- IE6 is in the 'Supported Appications' group, and corefonts
is in the 'Runtime Support Components' group. This all said, I'm not sure how well
it will run in Crossover (going by the garbage rating over at WineHQ)...see;
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=6328
Hope this helps...
Cheers!
actually, I can make it work. So I post it here. Thanks
Hi,
thank you firstly.
I have read it before and try to follow it like this:
first, i install ie6 in the bottle of win98( it's said to be incompatible to XP and Vista),
then, I download MFC42u.dll and copy it to crossover directory(i am not sure whether this step is right or not)
it is well installed but unfortunately, it doesn't work.
by the way, the version of Lingoes is 2.7.1(up to date) and the 2.6.2( which is said to be able to work)
So, can you give me some other opinions. merci
Hi,
I was able to get it working (of sorts)...but it's a little bit
of drama...and I'm not entirely sure it's working correctly...;
win2000 bottle + corefonts + IE6 + mfc42u.dll + visual c++ 6.0 + lingoes [optional -- emulate a virtual desktop enabled]
winxp bottle + corefonts + IE7 + mfc42u.dll + visual c++ 6.0 + lingoes [optional -- emulate a virtual desktop enabled]
For translating, you will have to copy text to clipboard and translate that way (I think...didn't spend a lot of time checking)
As Alex mentions, -please- consider submitting this app to the C4 database...see;
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/submit/
If Lingoes had it's own C4 page I could create a C4P installer profile for it (partial,
would still require manually copying of mfc42u.dll into sysdir) -- this would be the
easiest way to do it and also help other users of this app in the future...
Cheers!

Thank you very much. With your patient help, it works now. I will try to submit it to C4.
Hi, Dear Don:
I happened to find your reply to this post here. I am trying to install Lingoes on my Mac using Crossover, but after I install it according to what you illustrated here, when I clicked the icon, Lingoes couldn't start up, and there is a small icon appearing but disappear very soon.
So do you know how to fix it? Thank you very much.
(ps: I spent several hours trying to fix it by myself, but couldn't. Your help would be highly appreciated!)
Peter
