OK, I hope this is not off topic for the forum - I have tried searching the site and the forums and one thig that has never been clear to me..
Whats the real difference between Crossover Mac vs Crossover Games. CxGames tell me its better performance, and 'newer code' - so why would i NOT want that with my non-game applications? I assume 'later' mean more bugs, but with the state of wine, later also means its more like to work.
Oh, and when you know the answer - a sticky or a note on the products page might be useful to others trying to decide which one to get..
In a nutshell they are optimized for different applications. Crossover does all sorts of black magic under the covers to get certain applications to work. These work-arounds, hacks, cludges, whatever you call them make somethings work great and other not so well. So to keep from hurting a customer who's primary reason for running crossover is for MS Office 2007 with a patch that makes WoW run better they split them into two products that can either be installed together or separate without impacting each other, making office application users happy with stability and gamers happy with bleeding edge support for a just released game. In a perfect world, only one version would be necessary because it would run everything 100% all the time, but that world is a long way off, if ever.
Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
