Advice on what to watch out for coding Charts

Hi All,

I'm having some coders create a program that will chart stock data along with analysis I create in another program. Can anyone give me some advice on what I should have the coders watch out for when writing the program to chart data so that it will run without problems on Crossover?

My analysis software package runs perfectly on Crossover. It even gets the data through the API of my data vendor's software and that software also works perfectly on Crossover. Both of these packages have some rudimentary stock charting capability that run without any issues – other than they are limited. The point I want to emphasize is that both of these programs run with NO ISSUES at all.

I want the chart program I'm having coded to also run flawlessly on Crossover. If there is anything I can share with the coders that will help them to steer clear of problem areas, then I would be most appreciative if anyone can advise me.

Thank you so much. And, thanks to Codeweavers for a great program!!

Thanks.

Matt

Well, there are lots of areas to steer clear of if you want to write a program in windows that's going to work well in Crossover. Don't use .NET 3.5 or greater (or even 3.0, if you want to be safe), don't use ActiveX controls, VB Macros are hit-or-miss...I'm getting a little depressed as I think of all the things I could put in such a list...

Basically, if you've got an app that works flawlessly and you're having another program created that is symbiotic with the program already in existence, I'd stick as closely as possible to the frameworks that are in use in the pre-existing program. Also, I'd point your coders to wineHQ if they have questions about specific functions, frameworks, etc - they'll find more information useful to coders over there:

http://www.winehq.org/

Wine is the open-source project on which Crossover is built, and the serious coders tend to converse over there. The info on the Codeweaver's website is more useful for/geared towards users.
