I am trying to run the unsupported application 'Microwave Office' using Crossover, and although this software will install absolutely fine, I hit a stumbling block with the licensing. The software developer will supply me with a license file, but requires the Host ID of the Windows installation being used. (The Host ID forms part of the encryption within the license file).
How can I find this out, or is it simply not possible when, as in this case of using Crossover, there is no Windows installation present ?
...afaik, 'Host ID' = 'Machine ID' = 'MAC Address' (the 12digit
number assigned to every network interface), and if this is what
the software vendor is after, then I believe the wine process would
inherit the MAC_ADDR of the host machine... (although I have to wonder
how secure such a system is, considering many new motherboards let you
manually assign a MAC address of your own choosing =)....
Cheers!
