Dates

I'm trying to export data from Mac Quicken 2007 to Windows Quicken 2012 under Crossover. It's working, but dates are getting screwed up. Quicken suggests that I make sure that the "short" date format in both Mac and Windows is set to display four-digit years. I've done that on the Mac side, but I don't see how to do it under Crossover. Quicken suggests using the Windows control panel. But I don't see it.

Does anybody know how Crossover handles date formats?

Many thanks,
Steve

I assume you're using this:

http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/converting-quicken-for-mac-files-to-quicken-for-windows/GEN82367.html

Be sure you save and then open a copy of the Mac data file exactly as Intuit's instructions tell you. (Step 6 under "Prepare Your Quicken for Macintosh Data for Conversion".) I think that's what causes the dates to be saved in the QIF file with a 4 digit year. (Take a look at the QIF file on the Mac with a text editor before moving it.) I don't believe I had to do anything with Crossover.

Dana,
That seems to have worked. The problem is that the page you point to, which I was using, isn't up to date with Snow Leopard. The setting is in System Preferences>Language and Text>Formats>Dates>Customize. Per Quicken tech support, I set it to 2-digit month and day and four-digit year. After that, I restarted. Maybe unnecessary, but I thought I had done the change prior to making the QIF and somehow it didn't work. The second time, it did. And yes, as you say, I didn't have to do anything in CrossOver.

Still struggling to get all the account balances to match, but so far, so good.

Many thanks for your help,
Steve

I am still getting the "file not in correct format" when I try to import a Quicken for Mac 2007 file to a Quicken for Windows 2012. I have changed the short date format on the Mac to mm/dd/yyyy (two-digit month and day and four-digit year), re-booted, re-indexed the file, copied the file, and then exported to .QIF as the website instructions indicate. Still not able to import. I noticed using Textedit on the exported Mac file that the dates are in mm/dd/yy format. I also notice (1) that Quicken 2012 has not been tested by Crossover, and (2) that the import dialogue box says that "checking accounts..." are not supported. Any ideas?

The copied file is the one containing the 4-digit years. You have to reopen that one in Quicken before exporting.
