How do I install a printer driver for my Kodak ESP 7250 driver? Ever since I got this, I haven't been able to print from Forte Agent in Crossover.
You can't install drivers via Crossover - Crossover sits at the application level on your Operating System, whereas drivers hook into the kernl, below the application level. If your printer has Mac drivers (i.e. you can print to it using a mac-native app), Crossover should be able to use it since CX uses your Mac print drivers.
So, assuming that you can print to your Kodak printer from other applications, the next questions are:
what version of Crossover are you using?
can you print from Notepad? To try this, go to Crossover's Programs>Run Command menu. Select your Forte Agent bottle, and then type "notepad" in the command field. Click "run". type some random text, and then go to file>print in notepad and try printing to your Kodak printer. Does this work?

I am using Version 10.1.1 (10.1.1).
This got stuck in the print window just the same as as Forte Agent does. I hit OK to print, but nothing happens. I have to close the print window to continue.
But you can print from native Mac applications, I take it?
Does closing Crossover, removing and re-adding your printer, and then launching Crossover and trying notepad again have any effect? Or does it freeze?
If it freezes, what about a newly created created bottle, set to winXP? Does notepad print from that bottle? If so, you might be seeing some kind of odd bottle corruption, probably caused by an update, which would mean that your best course of action is to delete that bottle and re-install the Forte Agent program into a new one.
Alternately, you could try archiving the bottle (Configure>Manage Bottles>Advanced>Make Archive), then delete the present bottle and restore the archive, which is "as good as" re-installing in many situations, and this may be one of them if it turns out you can print in a newly created bottle but not the old.
I archived it, then deleted it, then got a window with "Failed to archive", with lots of examples such as this:
tar: winxp/drive_c/windows/gecko/0.9.1/
wine_gecko/res: Couldn't visit directory:No such file or directory
I couldn't close that window - Maybe there was a button to press that was scrolled way down past the bottom of my monitor. So I had to do a force quit.
I then restarted it, restored from archive, and was told that "Agent.app" is an application downloaded from the Internet. (And each app as well. as well).
I tried opening Forte Agent, but there is no Windows program configured to open this type of file.
So I went to Time Machine & restored file://localhost/Users/HBrazee/Applications/CrossOver/, but I'm getting the same result.
Now what?
I'm checking this forum a couple of times per day. I really want to restore my Forte Agent so that it works again with the messages from when I lost it.
I've never seen those errors while archiving, before. Perhaps the application was running while you were archiving it? Or the bottle was modified during archive, somehow?
At this point the best thing I can think of would be install a new copy of Agent into a new bottle, and then copy the pertinent data from your old bottle into the new. You can get to the interior of each bottle by highlighting a bottle inside Manage Bottles and heading to Advanced>Open C: Drive in Finder.
I've forgotten how to install Forte Agent. I see it's not a supported application. I got the installation to say "Will install from HBrazee > Downloads > cnet_agentenu600-1186_exe.exe, but it won't proceed from there. (I'd rather install by just copying the agent directory that I copied from my Windows partition).
I just tried Ultra-Edit from Crossover, and I'm getting the same problem I am getting with Forte Agent: A window saying "There is no Windows program configured to open this type of file".
I am losing the ability to use Time Machine to restore from before this problem. Restoring the Crossover directory is insufficient, but I have no idea what else needs to be restored.
If you're at ""Will install from HBrazee > Downloads > cnet_agentenu600-1186_exe.exe" in the Install Software menu but you can't click "install" to proceed, you might not have "other application" selected from the list of applications, as per these instructions:
http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/unsupported_install_file
If "other application" isn't selected, you won't be allowed to proceed.
At any rate, given your "no Windows program configured to open this file" errors on attempting to launch any app installed in Crossover, I'd say your Crossover install is pretty well hosed. I would not recommend using Time Machine as a restore method for Crossover in this particular case. It sounds like Crossover's various libraries are out of order, and using Time Machine will probably just make things worse - you're likely best off completely removing all Crossover components from your system
http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/uninstall
re-installing Crossover
http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/install
and then installing Forte agent into a new bottle, as in the first link.
I'm not too familiar with how ForteAgent works, i.e. where it stores data, but assuming that your existing (but non-working) forte agent bottle has quite a bit of user-specific data in it, you'll probably want to copy your Forte Agent bottle directory from
/Users/Howard/Library/Application Support/Crossover/Bottles/[forte agent bottle]
to your desktop or some other neutral location prior to completely removing Crossover and re-installing. After the re-install of ForteAgent into a new bottle, you can try copying the data from your saved bottle directory into the new one.
I installed Forte Agent again. I was surprised to see it set up with newsgroups, and apparently my purchase code from before.
But when I print to either my printer or my wife's printer, I still can't get past the print dialog box.
I can print to the recently installed iPrinter app on my iPad though.
Provided that
it sounds like you might be hitting some previously unknown bug between Crossover and the drivers used for the Kodak printer. In that base, the best thing to do would be to wait for Crossover 11 and see if the printer fixes in our updated code makes a difference.
OK. But I went to Notepad and tried to print to my printer, to my wife's Brother computer, and then to the iPad printer app. Only the iPad worked, it is the newest driver.
