I created a bottle with .net 2.0 installed and try to run this program from this bottle but i get the message:
Managed DirectX does not appear to be installed on your system, would you like to download it now. And then i press yes and nothing happens.
So my question is, how do I get Managed directx installed so I can run this program (game) ?
I tried installing Directx9 but that didnt work either. Tried all different searches on the net but with no result so I ended up going here, which I hope can help me out.
Please point me in a direction getting this to work
Created a XP bottle, insstalled my game, installed that link you suggested with crosstie and correctly enough it showed that I installed directx including managed directx and a bunch of other stuff.
However - When I start the game from that bottle, it tells me that it appears that managed directx is not installed and asks me to install it :(
I just downloaded/installed the Sallos program, and the error you are
seeing is related to a .NET 2.0 failure, not so much MDX itself. Afaict,
the error trace is typical of the need for .NET 2.0 SP2 which is currently
unsupported in crossover/wine. Sad to say, there is no resolve to this ;
like so many other win32 apps, this one too will have to wait for the
.NET 2.0 service packs to be supported by crossover/wine.
No effort, curiosity actually - I did the crosstie up for managed directx,
ergo I like to know when it doesn't work for folks.. and why =)
...when .NET 2.0 was current technology..ie; .NET 3.0 didn't yet exist,
only then did I see win32 programs specifying that you need a specific
.NET 2.0 service pack. Since .NET 3.0 (and beyond), references to a
win32 program needing .NET 2.0 assumes the final incantation of that
framework, which includes both of the .NET 2.0 service packs...
Yes, the wine devs -are- working on getting .NET 2.0 SP1/SP2 supports
into wine, but I do not know what the progress is.
Cheers!
