im using crossover games the demo version to see if it works. So I went on steam and clicked install game for a windows game ad it says its not available for my current platform. How do I use my Crossover Games??

I believe (since I do not use Steam a lot) that you have to install Steam through Crossover Games and then, from that version of Steam, you download the game that you want.
Try it, I think that's what you're meant to do, but hopefully a more experienced Advocate or ninja will come clarify things.

That sounds like you're using the Mac-native Steam client. Alex is correct - you need to install Steam via Crossover's Install Software menu, and then launch that version of Steam (via Crossover's Programs menu) in order to install windows-only Steam games.
Be sure to check out compatibility center for info on your specific games - many windows-only steam games work in Crossover, but not all.
