CrossOver for server software?

Hi all,

CAn anyone help us out with this question:

Is it possible to use CrossOver on the Mac (under the Snow Leopard OS X 10.6) to run a Windows-based server process? The server process, in this case a server application and a proprietary Windows-based database, would be hosted on the Mac, and should run in the background (i.e. without desktop logon or similar). Does anyone have any ideas how to accomplish this?

Regards,
Roger

I'll let Codeweavers staff come up with a definitive answerer, but the main issue will be "communications."

Since you are talking about a server application, my guess is that it is going to expect to be able to communicate "directly" with the hardware to send and receive data ... "over the net."

That being the case, it is going to depend on which communications framework the application uses, and which features of that framework it will utilize.... some communications stuff works under the latest version of CrossOver Games, for example, but other aspects do not.

Good luck!

Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
