Help Me Uninstall CrossOver 11 - Please!

I have been using all the various versions of CrossOver for almost three years now, but this new one will not run my Windows programs. I have worked all morning on uninstalling and reinstalling the Windows programs, and nothing changes. They will not work. I want to go back to the way my computer was running yesterday, before I downloaded the new CrossOver11.

Is there a tutorial somewhere for going back? I have TimeMachine working on my computer. Thanks for any help.

This is a follow-up to the above message I posted earlier. I have since uninstalled Crossover11 by dragging it to the Trash. I then went to Time Machine and found CrossOver 10.2, which had been working fine up until yesterday, and restored it to my computer. Alas, I still cannot use Quicken 2010 - it crashes when I download from my bank. However, I can now use PAF 5.0, or at least it seems to be working. 50% success is better than no success at all. But I regret that I can no longer use Quicken 2010, as i have been able to do these past 2 1/2 years.

Hi,
Use Appcleaner to trash all Crossover's files (http://www.freemacsoft.net/#). It works fine.

That is good advice but if you don't check the ticked files of Crossover it will delete the original download as well, although you may want to anyway.

Please don't use third party software to remove an application from your Mac. It is prone to leave pieces behind.

We actually have a very nice tutorial page that describes each location CrossOver is installed in on a Mac:

Thank you very much for that advice and the link, Caron. Fortunately, I know better than to install third-party apps on my iMac.

And this is where I reveal that I am not an avid Quicken user and I have no idea how to get it to do what you're describing. I know it's happening, I've seen three reports of it (on Mac & Linux systems)... but I need some help in trying to make it happen here.

First, does this happen with a specific bank or entity? (please feel free to keep this private by emailing it to me directly... I'm just looking for a common piece between the instances I know of and hoping someone here has the same entity if it is the missing link)

Second, how do you get to the point where you download from your bank? I do actually mean click by click instructions for this. I have found in the past that there are several different actions in Quicken that all have to do with the same thing... but all take slightly different steps for slightly different purposes. I've got my bank set up and I've got all of my transactions downloaded by syncing with my bank. But, I know it's possible to do this several ways in Quicken and I also know it's possible to download data from the bank and then import it into Quicken. I really need to know how you are doing it so I can do it the same way here.

Third, I'm really worried that this function no longer works for you in CrossOver 10.2. In the past this has indicated something that has changed with the bank and the way the online data is presented to Quicken. At this time, we cannot rule this out (which is why knowing the name of the entity that is causing trouble will help... we'll have to see if Windows users have the same pain if it turns out that this is the suspected problem).

Finally, my apologies that this is not going smoothly. We'd really like for this to never happen and for everything to work as it once was. It is likely that you'll also get some communication and things to try in response to the tickets you've filed. We will do our best to collaborate in-house with the information we've all asked for (often we have different ideas about what to try).

If anyone else is experiencing this issue, I have filed a bug in our system. Should you write in about it, please reference bug number 9407. It will not help to chime in and say 'me too' on this thread for this issue. The symptoms described above are often the case for several different problems. We would ultimately prefer you open a Support Ticket, reference this thread & give the information we've requested in this thread. Should it be the same issue we will add you to the bug.

I find Application Cleaner works well except for the preferences being missed.

Thanks for the advice on how to uninstall your software is it brilliant and will be useful for deleting other software.

Actually I checked and AppCleaner does appear to find the preference files, although it may not be 100%. I will check next time I uninstall a program.

Caron - thank you for your help. I believe I now have everything in good working order, thanks to a message from Andrew Balfour. I have already deleted Crossover 11 and restored Crossover 10.2 from my Time Machine before I heard from Andrew, but Quicken was still not working properly with the Internet. PAF (Personal Ancestral File) did begin to work.

Andrew told me to delete the Quicken Bottle from Crossover 10.2, then to reinstall Quicken 2010 to a new bottle, which I did. Now all seems to be working properly with Quicken 2010. I have my Quicken set to update automatically from Charles Schwab and American Express when I click the Update button. With Crossover11, doing this Update would cause Quicken to freeze and post some messages, which did not make sense. I had to shut down Crossover to get out of Quicken.

The other bank I connect to, I don't do automatic updates as in the past I have had troubles which I assume is the bank's system. So in that case I connect to the bank with the "update" link on the far right of the account I am updating. That connects me to the bank's website where I log in. I then go to that account and download a QIF file to my computer. I then open the QIF file on my computer and it downloads into my specific Quicken account. With Crossover 11 when I tried this procedure, again Quicken froze, just as described above. Good luck on fixing it. But for now, I am happy with Crossover 10.2 - as it runs both programs.

Be careful that in Mac OS X Lion, the "library" folder is hidden. You may have files there.

Have a look at this tutorial:
