How come play on dose not work well with crossover?

How come play on dose not work well with crossover?
Playon has to cache stuff and then stream it out to you via uPnP services as you watch stuff and seems to use some very weird code to do so. WINE (and crossover) doesn't seem to be able to handle emulating services very well (i've had some problems with some other service-type programs)
