I recently converted to mac. The main music production software I used on PC was FL Studio and was disappointed when I found there was no Mac version. However crossover gave me some hope. I downloaded the demo version and installed and opened FL Studio into an XP bottle (the Vista bottle wouldn't work for some reason). It was running fine. I closed FL Studio and I can't figure out how to open it again.
How do you open an installed program from a bottle?
Simply open cross over, go to the program menu and select the program you want. It should appear in the dock when it starts, hold down the program with your mouse until a menu appears. If you are running os 10.7 (lion) then it is under options if not then it should just be there in the menu.
but for some reason it shows the crossover logo with a golden gear above it... not the FL Studio logo.
I've seen in video tutorials the FL Studio logo.
would I need to upgrade crossover to attain a logo other than the crossover logo?
You should also be able to navigate to your home folder on the Mac, and in a sub-directory called 'Applications/CrossOver/' there will be a launcher for your application (if we were able to detect that it installed). If you are not seeing your app's icon, it is likely because CrossOver was not able to extract it. Some of this may be improved in the upcoming version of CrossOver, due out in a few weeks. Getting an icon for your application is not impacted by whether you are running a trial version or not.
Cheers,
Josh.
