Windows 5.1 error--help!

I am trying to use CrossOver to install Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 on my Mac, and the install process goes smoothly until the game's installer screen comes up, at which point a box comes up telling me that I am running Windows 5.1 and that the game only works with Windows 95. Once I click OK on the box, the installer quits without installing the game. Can anyone help me?

My mac is currently running snow leopard (Mac OSX 10.6.8). Thank you!

Did you try to set your bottle to win98?

You can choose the bottle type when it is created, during the initial steps of the installation process (http://www.codeweavers.fr/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/unsupported_install_CD , look about half way) . Oddly, during the installation process, win98 is the earliest type offered, so I would try that first and see if the game installs. I would think a win98 bottle will do well, even if the installer says "win95".

Creating a win95 bottle is not directly available, but if the installer still complains with a win98 bottle, youn can go to [configure -> manage bottles].

Step 1) If you don't have a bottle for that game already... [/b]
In "manage bottle" tool you have to add a bottle (button should be right under the bottle list), choose win98 and create it.

Step 2) Once you have a bottle for the game

Still in the "manage bottle" tool, select the bottle you want to modify and go to the control panel. Use "wine configuration" and there, at the bottom of the first pane, choose win95 in the "windows version" list. (you can find a snapshot of what I'm talking about here, near the bottom of the page, http://www.codeweavers.fr/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/unsupported_deps)

Once you have a bottle set to a usefull windows version, you should be able to install the game correctly. Have Fun!

Did you install it manually or use a CrossTie? There seems to be an unsupported CrossTie for the application, so you should be able to select it from the installation wizard.

I got it working, thanks guys! :D

That's great news! For completeness could you please mention how you got it working?
