Ok just starting so bear with me. Installed Crossover 11.2.1 on Macbook Pro and as an experiment downladed Internet Explorer 8. I've managed to create a new bottle called Internet Explorer 8 and it's status in the Manage Bottle window says "Ready". The applications said to be installed are:- CrossOver HTML engine, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, Microsoft HTML Rendering Engine 7 and msls31.
How do I get the application to run?
The apps which would have created desktop or start menu icons on Windows should be listed in CrossOver's 'Programs' menu. There should also be launchers inside a directory in your home folder called 'Applications.'
Lastly, by default, when CrossOver opens up it will show a 'welcome' window with buttons for 'Install Windows Software' and 'Run Windows Software.' Click the second and that will show a finder window with the launchers I mentioned above.
Things have gone from bad to worse. I decided to start again from the beginning and uninstall/reinstall Crossover. Then created a bottle "Interenet Explorer 8" and opened the downloaded exe file to install in that bottle. A IE8 install window (looking very Microsoft) opened and I proceeded with the install up to the point where it said it needed to restart the computer to install updates. Clicked restart and IE install window disappeared. The Crossover install window showed the installation apparently continuing until it said "Done" which I clicked and that window disappeared.
On the manage bottles window the IE bottle appears to be in the process of endlessly scanning and there is no sign of any application. If I go to Crossover's programs menu it goes to "Run Command" which opens a box requiring me to enter a command.....like what? Get on with it you stupid machine?
Going to home folder/applications there is a folder "crossover" but that is empty.
The welcome window "Run Windows software" button is greyed out.
Hopeless case...stick to Apple?
Thanks for showing concern/interest
The best bet now is probably open a support ticket if you have support, or a sales ticket if you do not. It sounds like IE is failing to install correctly on your machine - tracking that down will be easier in the ticket system than on the forum.
(Navigate to 'support' on the banner of www.codeweavers.com and file a ticket from there. If you have not yet purchased CrossOver and don't have a login, I believe the thing to do is send email to 'sales@codeweavers.com' with a description of the problem.)
I'm hopeful the support system can get it running for you.
Thaks Josh. I've sent an email as you suggest. I haven't purchased CrossOver and only have it as a 14 day trial. At the present rate I don't think there's going to be any long term relationship between me and this application!
Again tanks for your prompt reply and efforts to help.
Kind regards
Tim Stephens
