Is there an easy way to roll back an update like this? I suspect not, but thought it worth asking..
If I have to restore the system, guess I'll wait.. 😭
Any idea on a fix timeframe? few days or a few weeks on fix?

Yeah. I'm in the same boat. I had long since already updated OSX and I only got the warning mail just minutes ago. Hopefully, the fix doesn't take long.
What the... Don't you weavers get system software betas? Inexcusable. Somebody dropped the ball, again! And we pay for this?
Well, this is...less than ideal. Upgraded last night, was looking forward to playing Torchlight II tonight. Guess that's no longer an option...

We are working on it and showing (somewhat) promising results.
I am very sorry it's broken. I can't specify an eta quite yet.

Well, it's not exactly the end of the world. 😊 But I appreciate it, thank you. When you guys say you're "rapidly" working on a solution, I believe you!
I know you don't have an ETA, but can you even guess as to whether or not it's possible that we might see a fix later this evening (assuming you've got the manpower in the office and progress continues as you've implied)? Just curious.
I'll keep my fingers crossed in the meantime!
Dammm ... well it stops me from opening a ticket, like I was planning to do.
Haven't tried any of my games , but it's broken Exceed on Demand version 7 Client.
Luckily enough Office / Remedy / VNC etc still work.

Such hope as there is is, primarily, for running things in virtual desktops. (A virtual desktop won't work either for the CrossOver that's out there now, but we think we can make it work). So, if your hopes are contingent on running full-screen, I don't know that it's likely.
If running in a virtual desktop is a possibility for what you want to play, there is some chance that a stopgap might be available later on. (Again, I'm not certain yet). Distributing such a thing would be a problem as well: doing a real release takes time even at the fastest, just to get things onto our mirrors, etc. That won't happen this evening for sure. If I get a build that may help this evening and find a way to distribute it that won't kill our servers, I will do that.

I can't imagine why TL2 wouldn't work in a virtual desktop; I haven't seen anything that suggests it wouldn't. So that might just do the trick, if a nightly build of the fix is viable. If you need a guinea pig from the community to test it, I'll gladly volunteer! 😀

Sounds good. It's getting late - still working on it, but you might want not want to wait up at this point ;)

I'm on PST, so I've actually got a few hours of my evening left to kill. But I appreciate the heads-up, especially since my attempt at a Wineskin install is not going very well...

I don't think there is a wine out there which will presently work.

That...would actually explain a lot. Did Apple really put something into 10.8.2 that breaks WINE that badly?

They did.
A version of CrossOver which addresses the problem is here:
We believe CrossOver 11.2.2, which has now been released, fixes the problem.
We are, of course, sorry for the breakage.
Regards,
Josh.
Neither CrossOver 11.2.1 nor 11.2.2 load for me (running OS X 10.8.2). Double-clicking the application icon results in appearance of the CrossOver icon in my dock (bouncing at first) but it hangs there and right-clicking the icon shows that the application is not responding and I have to force quit it. Nothing seems to show up in crash reports or my system logs, but Activity Monitor shows the process, not responding, with both CPU use and real memory occupancy creeping up. Any suggestions? Regards,
Anand Mundkur

http://www.codeweavers.com/xfer/duboisj/11.2.2/
(enter the key 'crossover' to download when prompted)
This should make 3D graphics, which had been broken under CrossOver
on 10.7.5 and 10.8.2, begin to work again. This will go into an official release very soon, but not tonight.
In the meantime, if anyone wants to download this to play, we
welcome feedback! We are, of course, sorry for the breakage.
Regards,
Josh.

That is bad news. :(
Do you know how to do a 'sample' of the process?
Can you open /Applications/Activity Monitor
and, in the list of processes, find 'CrossOVer.app'.
Select that, and then click the 'sample process' button. That should produce a screen with a bunch of text. There is a 'save' button up at the top which will save that text to a file. Can you save that out and post the file here?
(really, a ticket is possibly a better way to keep track of this, but I am very interested in learning why it doesn't work on your machine).
It's working for me. Thanks for the quick response!

I've done as suggested, but the text dump is huge at 266 KB. How would you like me to address that? It would clutter the forum even if I were to successfully load the text as "code". Regards,
Anand Mundkur

For major OS X releases, yes (i.e., when OS X 10.8 itself was first in development). For updates to an existing OS X version, no. We get the update when you get it.
--edit--
Nope, never mind, that's not true. [smacks head] We do get update betas. I'm afraid that in this case we had too many things to test and not enough staff time to do it all. Typically the OS X updates don't cause trouble for us, so it was prioritized below a number of other urgently needed tests, and that really bit us this time. Our apologies.

You can send an email to "info@codeweavers.com" with the text dump. Kindly include a link to this forum thread so the staffer who gets the email knows the context and where to send the info.
Thanks!
It appears at present that, problems reported with 11.2.2 above notwithstanding, that 11.2.2 fixes the issue which was killing 3D apps on 10.7.5 and 10.8.2 (there is a support ticket for Mr. Mundkur's issue reported above: Mr. Mundkur - looking at the process sample, it appears your hang is something different: we will obviously work with you on the ticket to determine the cause. We do not see it in-house yet.)
So, broadly, the 3D issue with OS X 10.7.5 and 10.8.2 appears to be fixed in CrossOver 11.2.2, which is now released and publicly available through our normal download channels.
i always make sure i have a fully operational and verified backup of each bottle both in vanilla/original install state and current working state before i update the os or the cxo app. software glitches happen. emulators and virtual machines would seem like the most obvious candidates for unforeseen or surprise glitches and bugs. a little self preservation and preparation goes a long way.

That certainly seems to be the case on my end -- Torchlight II is running fabulously! Big ups to you and the rest of the CXM team for turning that fix around so quickly!
