Not sure if I am messing up but my Xbox Controller is not working in Steam games.
It works in native Mac games like Death Stranding and Resident Evil 4. Also works in Steam on Mac with games like Subnautica and Stray.
When I load Steam through Crossover, my controller is working in Steam's settings page under controller. All buttons are active and working.
Once you load a game, it is not working.
I tested it in FFVII, Control, Cyberpunk 2077
Please let me know if I am missing something.

so for me it was mostly steam bought horizon zero dawn on gog and controller works
