I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the WOW update on 10/12/2010. My update downloaded,and seemed to install, but when I start the game now, the launcher never comes up. All I get is an empty window. Any one else? I now it is still early for this patch, only been out 1 day.

I had some issues with the launcher/installer hanging and spawning zombie processes. You may want to try opening the "Manage Bottles" GUI and forcing a quit on your WoW bottle, then attempting to launch it again through your usual method.

Nope, that's not it, I have tried resetting the bottle, and rebooting the machine. If I press enter while the empty Launcher window is active, it exits itself. The process list shows no wine, WOW, or cxgames processes running.

I just tried loading an archive, and reinstalling the patch with the same result.

Is anyone successfully running WOW 4.0.1?

i did manage to install the patch, and then the launcher was updating itself to the new version.
afterwards - i couldn't start the game from the launcher (clicking the launcher gives nothing)

i did, however, managed to enter the game from the wow.exe file (without using the launcher).
i had though other problem. i did manage to login into my account and also see my char lists - but when i tried to enter the game - i see the loading bar - and then wow crashed.

I had to download the patch from file planet and run it via the run command. After that I started the new launcher. It did the next section with the cataclysm patch. I waited until it said EVERY thing was done. I was able to enter into the game. I could not talk to vendors. The dialog box wouldn't pop.
