When selecting a game to install CrossOver Games shows the following message

Missing 32bit libnss_mdns.so.2 library: This library is needed for network and Internet access. Installing it is strongly recommended

If I do the fix mentioned on this site I get the following

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Could you open an xterm/console, and issue one of the following commands;

[if installed system wide]

/opt/cxgames/bin/cxdiag --debug

[if installed in your home directory]

~/cxgames/bin/cxdiag --debug

The command should echo the situation to console -- paste back portion regarding
what it thinks about the libnss_mdns error. Is 10.04 installing a 32bit version
of that library in the meta-package 'ia32-libs'? Check to make sure.

I've installed both LOTRO and Guild Wars and they reporting unable to initialise Direct3D

I've got NVidia's Latest driver installed as using GTX 460 and the restricted ones class it as unknown

going to try uninstalling CrossOver, GFX Drivers and re-install them

well i tried uninstalling the drivers, etc and this has messed up the system - can no longer switch sessions using ctrl-alt-f1 and on bootup unable to boot to a terminal session only.

told it to reset gfx and windows are now stuck to top-left and unable to move them and none of the windows buttons work (minimise, maximise, close)

looks like a full reinstall again..

update

managed to resolve this - removed ubuntu and went back to LM9 64bit and ran the following to get it fully working

downloaded nvidia drivers for the GTX460
in terminal done the following

for installing nvidia drivers

apt-get install build-essential
apt-get install linux-headers

for installing crossover games

apt-get install ia32-libs
apt-get install lib32nss-mdns

for blacklisting incorrect drivers

gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

addeded the following lines and then saved it

blacklist vga16fb
blacklist nouveau
blacklist rivafb
blacklist nvidiafb
blacklist rivatv

I then rebooted to root with networking and once at the console and logged in I ran telinit 3 and logged in as myself

i then done the following
apt-get --purge remove nvidia-*
sh nvidia-driver-package.run

then rebooted into system as normal and installed crossover games.

I then installed GuildWars as a test and then LOTRO and this worked fine
