I am trialing crossover to play old windows games.
I have been trying to install Steam through Crossover for about 2 days now.
I think it keeps getting hung up, but I can't tell if it's making progress or not.
It also tells me I can download steam.msi from steampowered.com if I am having trouble, but I can't find that file on steampowered.com and doing a search for that file on steam doesn't give me any results.
did you try and install Steam using the CrossTie as described here?
I installed a Steam bottle just Yesterday using the CrossTie and it worked flawlessly which doesn't mean it'll work the same everywhere but there is a chance that it will :)
Might be worth mentioning that Steam has been hit hard after Valve released Left 4 Dead 2 for free. Maybe you tried to install during that outage.
I've cleaned my installer cache and tried installing Steam in a test bottle. It worked, although it seemed to stall when attempting to download the Steam installer. Maybe the service is still not 100% back yet.
I am also having an issue. It crashes on startup, after reinstall or not. I think it might be some cache folder.
But it is strange, no game is running for me at all. Black Screens: Starcraft: Brood War, Age of Empires II, Steam, everything.
What do you think the problem might be?
I am using CrossOver 13.0.1 and the latest nightly build from the 21st. None of them is working, same issues, then I think it might be a problem with my bottle. I'd love to not lose anything on it, moving to a new one would be suboptimal, but doable.
Do you want any log files?
