I was hoping something like crossover could handle this, when I tried to let crossover install the cd when i put it in, I got a generic error without any details. Is there a suggested method for setting up crossover to run CD's like this?
It's hard to know what to suggest without the exact technology used by the software, and the site isn't verbose on the requirements.
So I would suggest that you try to generate a debug log without any options. Hopefully, some missing library will be mentionned that will be easy to add.
That being said, since there is an online version, I'm wouldn't be surprised this is entirely based on internet explorer. Install some version of your choice (there should be an entries in the Crossover installer, or maybe some crossties) in the same bottle as the software and try it again. I'm guestimating this, so no promises.
Thanks, the content itself looks like SWF and lots of JPGS and MP3 audio. I will try to get a better debug, it just said fatal error and gave me nothing.
SWF files are flash files. If you install IE, (in partilculer IE8, the last one I tried), flash will be installed. JPGs shouldn't be a problem, but mp3 might if no proper codec is on the system. But as a Mac user, you probably have Itunes somewhere, so that shouldn't be a problem either, but I wouldn't know (being a Linux geek myself). It should be possible to get that kind of software running.
I had German language courses with similar technology to what your describing, and they worked great a few years back. If I can find them, I'll try to run them to see if it gives me any ideas.
Well, found my of German course CDs, and I get a generic error too. They used to work on prior version of Crossover, and I don't really see why they don't work now. So I will try to get them working. Since our respective software is so similar, if I find a way for mine, it would probably help you.
