I am new to Crossover and OS10. I have a upgrade edition of Microsoft Office 2007 that I would like to install on my new Macbook Pro 15 Retina using OS10 Mavericks. The installation is a failure. Here is what I am getting;
1) Insert the Office 2007 disk.
2) Message to input serial number.
3) Message to eject disk and place in a qualifying product. In my case Office 2003.
4) Message to re-install the Office 2007 disk.
5) Message indicating the installation failed.
Is there a way to get around this? Or, do upgrade products not work with Crossover?
I have not tried it with Office but was able to do it with Autocadd LT 97 >98
I copied the files from the upgrade disc onto my HD and then was able to complete the upgrade.
Hope it works for you.
That was a good suggestion. What I did was copy my old version of Office 2003 to my hard drive. Then I placed the Office 2007 update into the CD drive. When the installation proceeded to the point of looking for Office 2003 to proceed with the install, I pointed to Office 2003 that I had copied onto my hard drive. That was recognized and the installation completed. All of Office 2007 applications work--but very slow. I attempted to type a quick letter in Word 2007. Unfortunately, Word works very, very slowly and I rapidly "out-type"the program.
Which brings up a point. Is slow performance what I can expect for all Windows applications running in OS10 Mavericks under Crossover? The 15 rMBP I am using was released in October 2013. Apple does not make a faster machine.
Cheers,
Don Barar
