As of today, 1/3, Steam crashes after going through it's regular update on my 2010 Macbook Pro running Mavericks OS. It worked fine yesterday and the only thing I've done is install a new mouse (Razer DeathAdder 2013).
The wineloader application shows up in my dock momentarily and then simply closes. There is no crash notice. I'm using 13.0.1 and have been since it came out.
Oddly, perhaps, I am able to run games by going to the "drive_c" folder and manually launching the games' executable in "Programs Files > Steam > SteamApps > common > GAME".
Still working for me on Linux. I'll try OSX later.
In the past there were problems with some mouse drivers that injected code into other processes and broke CrossOver. I don't know what vendor / mouse / driver that was exactly, but I think uninstalling the mouse software might be worth a try. If the mouse did not come with any special software then my theory is moot.
I uninstalled the Razer Synapse software this morning. Steam will now load but cannot connect to the Steam server. However, it seems Steam is being DDoSed right now, so it might be completely unrelated.
In any event, there does seem to be a conflict between Synapse (installed regularly on Mavericks) and Steam (loaded through Crossover).
I don't think the uninstaller removes everything. After you run the uninstaller /Applications/Utilities/Uninstall Razer Synapse 2.0.app delete the file /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/RazerAudio.plugin and restart your machine.
