Crossover Crashing on Mac

I am new to Mac (normally a Linux user) and upgraded to Mavericks yesterday. I tried to install a windows program today but crossover keeps crashing - usually at the point when I 'Select' to find the .exe file.
I ran crossover in a terminal and this is the error output. Any ideas?
I bought Crossover a few months back in a bundle in anticipation of using it on a mac and this is the first item I've tried to install. Never had any problems with Crossover on Linux.

Are you running our current shipping version of CrossOver, 12.5.1, or some earlier version?

I was using 12.1.2 as that was the version linked to by the stacksocial bundle I bought. I have now downloaded the latest version and I was able to install HeidiSQL - thanks for your help.

I have the same problem with Mavericks.

Can you be more verbose? What version of CrossOver are you trying to run? Can you tell us more about your system (Graphics Card, version of Mavericks)?

In-house we've had two systems have a little trouble with the 10.9.1 Mavericks update. In both cases a full shut down and restart took care of the problem, perhaps this is what you are experiencing?

Running CO 11.3.0 on Mavericks, can't install anything.

Cannot open it most of the time, crashes instantly.
When I manage to open it, it crashes somewhere in the menu before I can start the actual app install.

Running CO 11.3.0 on Mavericks, can't install anything.

Only CrossOver 12.5.x and newer are supported on Mavericks. See here:

CrossOver System Requirements

So basically I have to buy CrossOver every year for full price without upgrade options. Terrific!

Thanks, but no thanks.

What you buy is a subscription, for a year or 6 months or 1 month. During the time you're subscribed you get access to the newest version version of Crossover available. So if you're using CX 10 and CX 11 comes out and you still have a valid subscription, then you get access to CX11 and all the previous versions. Even if your subscription is not renewed you still get access to those versions but not the newer ones.

You don't have to buy it at full price every year, you get a 30 days period of time after your subscription ends when you can extend it by paying about half the price.

All of the above is explained here:

Support and Upgrade Policy

The pricing options are here:

Product Pricing Table

You can usually find coupons that will shave off some more.

If you're not a heavy user of Windows programs, a subscription might be overkill and you'd probably be better off with Wineskin or PlayOnMac

I would add that with observation over the years, it has become obvious that Apple likes to break things, or least just doesn't care if they break things. The suscription model is therefore a greater deal than you might think.

lol, at least with CrossOver you can still upgrade. If your machine was old enough and you tried to install Mavericks Apple would tell you to get a newer machine without blushing. A new machine is a lot more expensive than a CrossOver subscription :)

There are quite a few programs that work on the subscription system and most of them a lot more expensive than CrossOver, as seen with Adobe, FileMaker, Microsoft products just to name a few.

That's bs. Any Mac app written to proper specification will keep running perfectly in future versions.
I use several tools that were compiled for OS X 10.4 Tiger and haven't been updated since then, and still work perfectly on Mavericks.
Obviously Crossover does some non-standard things. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, because Crossover is pretty non-standard software to begin with. But the way Crossover crashes really feels like they're doing some stupid things during initialization.

Non -standard? Well the standard is to run software made for your OS, so yeah Crossover is about non-standard as you can get. And Crossover probably has to go for some deeper API than most of your Mac software to accomplish its tasks. Comparing Crossover to mainline Mac native software is a fallacious argument at best. So there is some BS here, but I doubt you know where it is. As for stupid initilization, again, imagine what it has to do to permit software never made for your OS to run on it.

So for what Crossover is, and has to do, a suscription model is a greater deal than you too might think.

I have plenty of "mac-native" software that is broken. Starcraft 1 and warcraft 3 are prominent examples. And yes, even if you get past the ppc installer wc3 doesn't work online on mavericks.
