I'll post this here, as it appears no longer to be impossible to directly respond to the 20 October blog post 'We wish we were squidding: a bit behind on the next CrossOver release'.
The blog post explains why Crossover 21.1 is delayed - yet it only mentions problems specific to MacOS - to such an extent that it appears as if Crossover is a Mac-specific application.
If any Crossover employee is reading this: can we please get a Linux-specific post, or one that genuinely encompasses all three versions (Mac, Linux, Chrome)? Crossover 21 does not include a number of important new technologies, most important of which may well be its improved Direct X 12 support. The further behind it gets, the less reason there is to use this version of Wine over other incarnations.
Personally, I am seriously wondering if I should renew my subscription as, currently, I might be better off using the Steam runtime or 'regular' Wine. I know paying the subscription helps Wine development, yet there is no immediate benefit for me as a customer if Crossover is not updated regularly.
In short, I I would like to know more about when to expect the next Linux update (hopefully soon) and about what technologies it will include. I would also like to know whether challenges specific to one version of Crossover will continue to determine the update frequency for the other versions as well.
