How to redirect lpt1 to a cups printer?

Hi,

We are testing the Visual Cadd program under Crossover Office. Everything seems to work great, except for using the plot command. The plot command evidently sends data to the parallel port to run the plotter. Our plotter is a network plotter. It has been configured as cups printer on the base Fedora 9 system.

Is there some configuration option with wine/crossover office whereby the data being sent to Lpt1 can instead be sent to our plotter which has been configured as a cups printer?

Thanks, and kind regards,

Kurt Eichenberger

Check out http://www.witch.westfalen.de/Wine-HOWTO/wineprintconfig.html for a possible way to do this. There's no .winerc anymore, it's all in the registry, so you may have to dig around in regedit in Crossover to find the right values to modify.

Andrew,

Thanks for the reply. I may need a little more help. I looked at the info you provided, and from it I understand what would need editing in the .winerc file. But as you say, this is not how crossover works. I looked at various files on my system which seem to have regedit in the name, but I am clueless as to which of the files to modify. I also am not certain if the files should be modified directly, or if there is some other program that must be used to edit the file. Can you direct me to additional information about this?

Thanks,

Kurt Eichenberger
