PersonalStockMonotor v8.6.3:Works perfect in free Wine v1.1.15; but does *not* in paid CrossOver v7.1.0-1

Hi:

On Fedora Core 10 x86_64bit...

SCENARIO-1 (works):
root# yum install wine (installs all necessary wine packages)
nmvega$ winecfg (non-root user initial wine config)
nmvega$ wine psm863g_install.exe (installs the application with no problems).
nmvega$ Launch App by double-clicking the desktop icon. (Could have used the CLI to launch, but doesn't matter).

SCENARIO-2 (problems):
root# Remove all traces of Wine (rpm -e ...; and remove "~/.wine" directories)
root# sh ./install-crossover-standard-7.1.0 (No problems with the installation).
nmvega$ Use the GUI to install the same application as above (ps863_install.exe).
nmvega$ Launch App by double-clicking the desktop icon. (Could have used the CLI to launch, but doesn't matter).

In SCENARIO-1 (Wine v1.1.15), the Application renders each line text just fine.
In SCENARIO-2 (CrossOver v7.1.0-1), the Application does not render any line text

If you want to see what the difference is between the two scenarios, see the two
attachments in "Level-3 Ticket 743252". You'll see clearly the issue.

Any ideas. Thanks.

Thank you
Noel

Hi,

I just tried this app. in crossover office linux 8.0_beta4 and the issue
you describe would appear to be fixed...ie; all text lines seem to be
rendering correctly.

I guess there will always be some disparity between what version of WINE
crossover uses for it's engine, as compared to WINE standalone versions.
Eventually, improvements in WINE end up being incorporated into crossover's
WINE engine...this would be a good example of such.

So...you'll either have to upgrade your crossover version (when crossover 8
goes final), or just use WINE instead ;)

Note: I did not check if the crossover linux 7.2 version suffers the same
problem or not...you might download the demo of crossover linux 7.2 and
see...

Regards,

Don

Thanks Don.

I learned a few things from your POST...

(1) I thought Crossover created newer versions of Wine, which the free
version eventually incorporated - not the other way around -- though
it makes sense to me now why it's the reverse of what I thought.

(2) I didn't see version linux 7.2 as an option to download yesterday for
my purchase. I'll look for it.

For the record (i.e. for anyone who is watching) "PersonalStockMonotor v8.6.3", as
Don and I can attest, is quite stable on Wine. The install and operation
of it is seamless. PSM is a great app.

Regards,
Noel
