Have archived apps which I import each time I do an upgraded install of my distro. However, these archives once imported, never work unless I do a dummy install of some random .exe app which then offers to install all the extra files needed to make Crossover work. Once the dummy ??.exe app is installed (along with all the extra files needed to make Crossover work), I then delete the bottle of the app I'll never use.
What don't I understand? For years I've used Crossover. I have my collection of favourite apps archived for each distro fresh install, but I can't use them without going through this strange process. Is this a bug or an oversight?
What you're seeing when installing a dummy .exe is our automatic process for looking for missing dependencies. This is only triggered upon trying to install an application, not upon importing bottles.
If you want to run this process manually, you can run /opt/cxoffice/bin/cxfix --auto
Best,
Meredith
