Diablo IV install beyond challenging

I have tried multiple times in multiple bottles to get this to work in OS 15.0.1 Sequoia. It took forever just to install Battle net because I kept getting error after error and had to keep clicking yes, agree, and other items and click "try again" in Crossover.

Then, when I finally got both Battle Net and Diablo IV installed, Battle Net said that Diablo IV needs a patch. But every time I try, the app crashes and CrossOver shows a window with the following "unexpected error":

DDB5EF64-BDBB-4891-8711-44A235E0F41E

I only bought this app for this one game so I'm hoping they can refund it if it's impossible to play. I had already tried the whole Homebrew / Wine method with a hundred steps to nowhere and so hoped this method would work. No luck. :(

Me too.

I've been having the same issue...

Hello

I have a clean bottle with no errors during installation I saved it after I got Bnet installed (just in case something like this might happen or I got stuck around 45% again LOL). Just load this into crossover and it will have a clean copy of BNET ready to launch. You'll have to install your games none of those are included. YOU MUST use a 3rd party unzip tool I suggest The Unarchiver it's on the app store and free. if not it extracts the file into a folder that is just the raw files and not the bottle you can double-click to install.

Bottle HERE

I'll leave this up for a couple of days. I hope it helps post and let me know! :)

Yeah something is wierd with this B.NET install approach, don’t really know what is going on with their installer. I also bought it on Steam and this works out of the box for me. So now I can easily play on Mac through CrossOver and on SteamDeck without much tinkering.

I was having issues with Diablo IV AFTER the expansion of Vessel of Hatred. The game would pause/get stuck (usually when I was not in a town) and I would have to force quit the app (which would lose some progress). I wrote to Code Weavers tech support and got a nice reply. Apparently the issues with the game constantly updating (either before I start a gaming session or when quitting or both) is what the support person called "false updates". According to him it has something to do with the way Battlenet/Diablo works with Wine (which is what CrossOver is based upon) and the issue is being worked on. He said he had not heard about the game "freezing", so I said perhaps he should read the forums here and perhaps it is not technically "freezing", more like a dramatic pause where everything moves SLOWLY LOL.
Anyway what I did is create a totally new bottle and just had Crossover create the bottle and just install Battlenet. I then logged into my account and had Battlenet install Diablo IV/VofH itself. But this time I did not have it install the high res files (which I have read on that unless you have a really high def monitor you would be hard pressed to see the difference, that on my M3 iMac with the 4.5K resolution (according to Apple) I can't say I notice any degrading of quality. The "freezing/pausing" seems less frequent (meaning I need multiple transports/exits from dungeons to trigger it) and the game plays fine. Unfortunately the "updates" still happen, so I guess that is a Crossover/Wine issue.

I suspect that game freezing is more likely to occur on machines with low memory capacity, because each time you teleport in the game, some memory leakage may happen. This leakage needs to accumulate to a certain extent before it noticeably affects the system. For instance, some computers only have 8GB of memory, while others have up to 64GB. Clearly, the former is more prone to experiencing game freezes, whereas the latter may barely notice such issues.

Did anyone else try my installer? If not I'm going to take it down to free up a bit of space in my google drive :)

Well I have 16GB of RAM and never had this pausing/slowdown issue before the VofH expansion. Same iMac M3 with 16GB of RAM.
