I use Outlook 2007 under Crossover 8 to connected to an externally hosted Exchange server. It was working fine until last week when I upgraded from Fedora 11 to 12.

Now Outlook constantly says "Disconnected" in the bottom right corner. When I hit Send/Receive I get the following messages:

Task 'Microsoft Exchange' reported error (0x8004011D): 'The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists.'
Task 'Microsoft Exchange - Sending' reported error (0x80040115): The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.'

Looking up those error numbers, I get a lot of suggestions for checking various things are started up on the server. I do not have access to the server so this is a moot point. I also know that the server is not a problem as other colleagues are still able to access it, as am I using Outlook under Windows.

My setup:

• OS: Fedora 12 x86_64
• Crossover version: crossover-standard-8.0.0-1.i386
• Bottle type: Windows XP

Things I have tried:

• Used an Outlook 2003 I have in a separate Windows 2000 bottle. Same symptoms.
• Created a fresh Windows XP bottle and installing Outlook 2007. Same symptoms.
• Created a Fedora 12 VM and installing Crossover and Outlook 2007. Same symptoms.

Could this be the culprit?

Can anyone offer me any advice on what I can do to investigate the problem further?

It may be the same problem ... I suppose if you -upgraded- your previous fedora installation,
the package manager might never have complained along the way...and this would 'quietly' break
things for you...ie; at a hunch, if you tried to reinstall crossover -now-, the installer will
bork on the same missing openssl libs dependency. If you wanted to investigate this further,
probably the 'crypt32' debug channel will tell the tale - at a guess though, it probably is
the same issue...I'm currently awaiting some ninja enlightenment on whether this will be
addressed in CO 9.0....

When I installed Outlook in the fresh F12 VM, it did indeed give a warning that libssl and libcrypto were missing. I saw that they were actually on the system and that it allowed me to continue, so I assumed it was just a mistake. Guess not.

In the meantime, I've created symlinks pointing to the current libraries to fool Crossover into thinking that the older libraries are installed. And Outlook works. Huzzah!

Obviously this isn't a long term solution and may have unforeseen side effects. If Crossover 9 will support libssl 1.0, is there an ETA on it?

The patch should make an appearance in the alpha4 release of Crossover 9.
It will also be in Crossover 9 final...
