Please can you add another application that can be tested with any new release. Its called Meshcam and a 30 day free trial can be downloaded from http://grzsoftware.com/. I tried it under Version 8 winxp bottle and it looks promising but the main display window is corrupted. Looks like a miss match between what the application thinks is the size of the window and actual. So close but no cigar. Would be interested if anybody running version 9 had better luck. I have requested that it is added to the compatibility database.
In discussion with Robert Grzesek the author of Meshcam - he asked for a screen shot and based on what he saw he thinks its an Open/GL problem and wonders if there are any options to control how Open/GL works i.e. hardware acceleration etc.
Maybe a problem with my Graphics cards driver so would be interested if anybody else had the same problem.
If a program uses OpenGL, then it has pretty direct access to the native host's OpenGL. There's a bit of glue since the program is asking to do OpenGL to a Win32 window and Wine has to connect it to an X11 window, instead. But after that, the OpenGL calls go directly to the native OpenGL.
While this sounds like a nearly ideal situation, as opposed to Direct3D where Wine has to intervene in every Direct3D operation in order to translate it to OpenGL, it actually leaves us with less control.
I suspect it's a weakness in the Linux graphics driver, although it's certainly possible that it has to do with how Wine is connecting OpenGL to the window, or reporting pixel formats and GL features.
To learn the version of Wine incorporated into a given release of CrossOver, you can do '/opt/cxoffice/bin/wine --version'. Alternatively, you can check in winecfg's About tab.
