copy crossover from one machine to an other

Hi i've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop and want to copy Crossover from my old installtion. I have copied .cxoffice and .config/menus and so far it works pretty well. My problem is that i don't know what folder to copy over so that the system knows that .doc and .docx files should be opened in Microsoft Office instead of openoffice.

We generally recommend that you use the bottle archive and restore features of CrossOver to do that, which takes care of this for you.

Since you've already copied the bottles manually, you can do the following to get them integrated into your desktop environment again:

/opt/cxoffice/bin/cxbottle --bottle <bottle name> --restored --install

You repeat that once for each bottle's name. The command may be ~/cxoffice/bin/cxbottle if you installed CrossOver to your home directory.

When i run the command i get the following error:

erik@erik-laptop:~$ /opt/cxoffice/bin/cxbottle --bottle Microsoft\ Office\ 2007 --restored --install
Ukendt flag --version

Ukendt flag --version

Hi,

In Ken's example, you see ;

/opt/cxoffice/bin/cxbottle --bottle <bottle name> --restored --install

You need to replace <bottle name> with the name(s) of the bottle(s) you have.

Is the name of the bottle you are working on Microsoft Office 2007 ?? If it is,
then the above command would become ;

/opt/cxoffice/bin/cxbottle --bottle "Microsoft Office 2007" --restored --install

You need the quotation marks " " to encapsulate the white-spaces in the bottle name.

This probably doesn't explain the error regarding the --version flag though, let us
know if this works for you or not.

Cheers!

Using the quotation marks didn't help, so i deleted the bottles and just reinstalled the programs since i only had two anyways. Next time i'm going to use archive the bottles. Thanks for the quick answers :)
