Warhammer 40k Dark Crusade is supposed to be gold and run like a windows app. But lags real bad an introductory screen is so bad that you can hardly read it. Does it need to be tweaked or directx 9c installed?

Should be okay, Soulstorm is the 'pain in the ass' :P
What specs are you?
Alex
Hardware is Acer 6000 x64 dual core asus motherboard 8600 Nvidia card. In the games I'm running everything on low.
Hmmmm i am playing it all on high right now with the same graphics card
you could try installing directx using crossover if it is not in the install software section go to crossover preferences and untick hide dependencies
Alex
ok I install directx using crossover. Still lags. The opening screen is real slow and jerky. Now where is the preferences tab?
I just noticed it thinks my card is a 5600 and not my 8600.
Ahh that could be the problem its quite an old card :(
Alex
I just noticed in Ubuntu 9.10 that my nvidia hardware acceleration wasn't turned on. Now that is is turned on should I reinstall the program?
Jim
I dont think a reinstall is required
Alex
Ok I accelerated my card and now it thinks the card is an 8300 and works fine. Now it runs in a big window. How do I fix this?
Jim
run the GraphicsConfig.exe
Alex
Hmmmm the games config doesn't offer this option and I haven't found it in the crossover choices. Duh me what am I missing?
Ok are you saying the resolution is wrong if so it will be in gameconfig.exe
Alex
I found in the control panel the wine config utility and unticked the window choice in wine. Now it runs full screen and is smooth as it should be. Many thanks for your help Alex!!
Jim
Its ok i am here to help
