Hi - On a forum for NetManage Ecco (a sort of outlining Personal Information Manager from long ago which boasts a loyal following) I asked about running it on Big Sur. It is 32-bit. Here is the answer I got and my question is below:
I’ve run Ecco for years on a Mac, using Parallels. I’m currently running the latest build of Big Sur, and Parallels works extremely well with it. Parallels has been ultra stable, and so has Windows 10 running under it. I haven’t had a Windows crash in years, and have never had Ecco crash while running under Win 10 / Parallels. As suggested by others on this site, I keep Ecco in a separate folder, on C:. (I keep a copy of that folder on a thumb drive for a quick install if necessary). It’s not really an “install” in the Windows sense: you just copy the folder to C:. Under Parallels, if you ever lose your Windows installation, with all your programs and settings, getting it back is as easy as locating the .pvm file which Parallels produces, from your Time Machine backup, and restoring it. Up and running again in 15 minutes. Ecco itself, 32 bit or no, remains incredible. Kindest Regards, George.
Since Crossover worked fine "before" on an older Macbook ... Do ya'll think there is any way for me to get it working on Big Sur without having to use Parallels? I would prefer Crossover since I already have it.
If I have not posted this in the right place I'll depend on the moderators.
Thank you in advance.
