I have a mounted NTFS partition from my Windows 7 install and I would like to be able to run an already installed game from it. Is this possible? I'd like to not have to "install" all 4GB+ of the game on my Ubuntu partition. Can someone point me in a direction for some self help or perhaps offer some instructions on how to start?
Most Windows programs require that you run the installer, because it sets registry keys and the like. There may also be certain files that have to be in specific locations within the file hierarchy. It may not be enough to just have the files for the game accessible.
There are some programs that will work "stand-alone", though. If your game is one of those, you can use CrossOver's Run Windows Command tool, pick the game's .exe file and a bottle, and run it. Your NTFS partition will probably need to be mounted read-write.
