Game Mode in Crossover?

Is there any way to use Game Mode while playing games on Crossover? Tried putting the app in fullscreen but to no avail...

That's a good feature request. I wrote to them asking the same.

To be honest I would not be bothered with this so called "Game Mode" too much. I yet have to see any performacne difference in any game with it on/off. I can't see any. Tested a couple of AAA titles as well, on Mac Mini M2 and on a 14" MacBook Pro. What it does is just pausing the background processes but then again these usually run on the efficiency cores, and your game is on the Performance Cores. It also doubles the sampling rate of bluetooth devices, but again, I can't tell any difference (mouse input & playstation 5 controller).

What I do sometimes on the MBP is to enable low power mode - as most games are GPU bound, and this mode limits the top frequencies of the CPU cores - essentially the Macbook will run cooler and quieter while running heavy games, and the framerate is mostly the same (games are usually GPU bound on Apple silicon macs!!)

In the game Project Zomboid, you see a very big difference. Without game mode, the game is unplayable. With game mode it is playable, but not quite liquid, but playable. So, i would like to know how this plays with Game Mode under crossover. Because under crossover, it's just as good playable as the Mac version with Game Mode. Project Zomboid does not use DirectX but OpenGL

Sorry, my English isn't the best

Did you try clicking (or just passing over, can't remrmber) on the green dot above left in window mode?

Did you get an answer?

I wish gaming mode to be supported in CrossOver. As it does now on Steam, for example.

If i remember correcrly, it works now in native macos steam on manually added crossover games.

I read somewhere that any app running through Rosetta can't run game mode. Not sure if this is true but Crossover is (today) still using the Rosetta translation layer.

Civilization VI uses Rosetta, and it activates Game Mode when it runs.

All 3 two raider games on steam run through Rosetta, and it still activates [game mode].

Again, it is possible in the native macOS steam version.

About running the crossover version of steam, does not activate it, but then again, who knows what the future holds.

I hope they consider adding it too.

I tested it. No success. Actually, the app is complete broken, maybe because it open two Steams haha. I really don't know.

Game mMde makes difference, I've made a video ( in Italian) and show few more fps in most games.
As far I know Game Mode works with Crossover, you just don't see the notification.
