Hey there Wondering how to do this. So I installed some applications (AppStore) and didn’t want them showing up in launchpad so I removed them from the applications folder by copy and pasted them into a different folder.

Now I installed something from crossover and it created an icon in launchpad but it doesn’t show up in the applications folder so how can I hide it from there?

You shouldn't move Mac App Store applications out of the /Applications folder. The Mac App Store always installs applications there and will not check other locations to determine if an installed application has an update available. You can nest them into folders within /Applications such as /Applications/Games or /Applications/Word Processing but they should not be taken out of /Applications.

Crossover creates "launchers" for each application you install in a bottle. Launchers are Mac applications stored in ~/Applications/Crossover by default.

Apple doesn't allow a lot of customization with Launchpad. It is not what one would consider a "power user" utility. There isn't even a way to hide an application from displaying in Launchpad, one can either leave it there or delete it (which deletes the application, not just the icon in Launchpad).

Create a folder in Launchpad for all the things you don't want to see when you use Launchpad. (Folders are created in Launchpad by dropping one application on top of another.) Once you have collected them all, name the folder "Hidden Applications" or something else that makes sense to you. Then move that folder to an unused Launchpad page. =POOF= they're gone unless you purposely scroll to that extra Launchpad page.
