It is Crossover time thanks to Apple Silicon

With high end M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14/16", exiting and coming soon M1 machines, CrossOver must stand out a solution for gamers and professionals who still needs Windows software. I hope CodeWeavers will optimise Crossover for Apple SIlicon, improve Monterey compatibility and finally gets all the success it deserve as a solution for many needs.

There are YouTube channels with a big focus on CrossOver like Andrew Tsai one: YouTube channel link

If you compare CX19, CX20 & CX21 you’d see the massive improvements that CodeWeavers have made along with getting some Rosetta2 bugs squashed due to bug reports to Apple from the likes of Chip. Some of these fixes have already landed in upstream wine (see below about 32-on-64)

CX21.x and later will continue to improve the performance as much as they can outside of Rosetta2 code generation bugs and Metal API lacking some equivalent features to be mapped to Vulkan (Also Chip improving MoltenVK)

There’s a current push for the upstream implementation of 32-on-64 that should also help improve future CrossOver versions.

There won’t be an ARM64(e) build of CrossOver short-term as QEMU generates unoptimized code. See https://github.com/AndreRH/hangover

To help improve CrossOver during a beta cycle submit bug reports with a detailed feedback as you possibly can.
