Dark Souls 3 Issues

Hi,

I recently finished playing through Dark Souls 2 (SOTFS) via CrossOver, which ran perfectly (offline). Pretty amazing.

I would love to play Dark Souls 3 next, but I’m having some issues - pretty much in line with what I’m seeing on various old posts and lists. Graphical glitches, freezing or heavy duty slowdowns on the 'graphics' menu, and pretty bad stuttering. ‘Playable’ maybe, but barely. Changing the graphics settings via the GraphicsConfig.xml is a solid workaround to the menu freezing, but I didn't particularly notice any change in performance with lowered settings. I also found that changing the game to 'windowed' mode does fix the graphics menu bugs - but again, doesn't have an impact on the stuttering as far as I can tell.

I’m mostly just wondering if anybody here had any better luck with DS3 - it seems like there have been people saying it's working well for them, but I can't find many specifics. Are there any settings I could be tweaking in Crossover to get a bit more of a seamless experience?

For reference I’m using the 14” 16gb M1 Pro.

Hi there,

I'm not sure what old posts you are referring to, but our ratings show that it runs pretty well with CrossOver (https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/dark-souls-iii). Do you have DXVK enabled in your bottle settings?

Best,
Meredith

Thanks for the reply - yes, 'DXVK Backend for D3D11' is turned on.

Here is a Reddit thread of some similar difficulties, as well as some successes:
