i have tried to install it and i have tried to run it from a command (after i copied it into the bottle).
the log file that i get when i try to run it from a command is:
...
fixme:module:wine_load_dos_exe DOS executables not supported on this platform
winevdm: can't exec 'C:\Program Files\cm\launch.exe': invalid program file

can this ever work?
or should i just give up now and install windows?

This sounds like it is a DOS game. While CrossOver has basic support for running DOS apps, this has been a rarely used and mostly unmaintained feature in the past years. I would recommend you to try a DOS emulator like DOSEMU or DOSBOX. Alternatively you can use a full Computer emulator like VirtualBox, vmware or parallels and install freedos in it to run the game.
