I just got a brand spanking new iMac today - it is the iMac 20,1 model, 3.8GHz i7, 40GB RAM, Radeon Pro 5500XT with 8GB RAM.
My steam games work fine, SimCity 3000 works fine with Crossover 21.1 (21.1.0.33869) in a Win2k bottle.
However, when I try to install Glyph/Rift in either a Win 7 or Win 10 64bit bottle, it will die when trying to install MS Visual C++ 2015 x64 runtime.
In my frustration, I completely removed my Crossover set up and in doing so, wiped the logs as well. It was telling me that it was unable to enumerate the monitors and was defaulting to a 640x480 resolution (odd but safe) and then when it tried to open a windows (reason unknown) it was unable to open the windows, unable to load a driver.
I will follow up with the detailed debugging logs once I try to install again.
Has anyone else seen this or found a work around for odd graphical glitches that have appeared in RIFT in the latest releases?
Rift should run flawlessly on your Intel Mac. I had it working on my Macs. I recommend installing it in a pristine, virgin Win 7/10 64 Bit bottle. Do not install any other utilities or programs, just use the clean bottle (except maybe the standard fonts to make it look pretty, not required, though).
I've done that...and I've done Win 7 x86 and Win 10 x86 as well. I don't know if it's something with the T2 security chip on this model or what. I've fired my Linux machine back up as Rift purrs on it. This issue and a couple of others have me with buyer's remorse on this iMac. I'm going to completely blow away Crossover and do a completely clean install. If that doesn't work...I will be returning it.
I've spent more time fighting with this than I did in completely tearing out my mounted monitors and completely rebuilding my desk.
I will try to re-install Rift from scratch on my MacBook Air M1 this evening to see if I can reproduce the problem. I can say that I have installed dozens of Microsoft Visual C++ Redists in numerous bottles of mine on different Macs and rarely ever had an issue with them. This must be something else.
BTW, are you installing the VC redist or is Rift trying to install it? Do you use more than one monitor? Try reducing your external hardware to the absolute minimum. Just use the Mac and a mouse and keyboard and try again in a fresh new bottle.
I just installed Glyph/Rift on my MacBook Air M1 within half an hour. The bottle was used, but didn't have much installed into it. Worked perfectly.
Do you have any "helpers" or anti-virus software installed? I highly recommend uninstalling these, as they not only lull you into a false sense of security, but are actually bad and add more attack vectors to your computer. Apart from slowing it down massively and stopping other software from working.

A solution for what is probably not the problem... For common shared dependencies, CX will keep a copy of those installers. If one is corrupt (as my .NET 2.x files were), you should clear the cache to force a fresh copy to be obtained. Preferences -> Installer Assistant
