When i use crossover to run steam everything is at a terrible frame rate like 15 to 20 FPS in counter strike source and 1.6 its not playable at all. I've tried everything possible it is your program as others are also having the same exact problem. I run WoW on my mac and every other game osx based runs fine. I dont know what the problem exactly is but please fix it before i waste money on this program kthxbai.
yeah its set do you read its your application its every steam game this happens on like i said they all work perfect in bootcamp and its not my macbook pro. in 1.6 i get 20-30 fps and source i get 15-20 fps.
unless there is a way it is a power setting lowering the performance which i doubt because i have no battery in its directly connected to the charger in the wall
can you please copy the launch properties from you steam games into this thread (assuming they are all the same - if not, please send copies for each game)?
what type of bottle (win 98, winxp, etc.) have you installed steam into?
assuming you installed steam into a bottle, and then installed the games using steam? Or did you save the games to other file directories?
are there any other applications installed into the same bottle as steam?
I am using a windows xp bottle, i installed the games with steam, and the only other apps in the bottle are the steam games counter strike source and 1.6
Will you please inform us of what graphics card you are currently using?
And we again respectfully request:
can you please copy the launch properties from you steam games into this thread (assuming they are all the same - if not, please send copies for each game)?
Click on a game in your Steam window in My Games. Click on the "Properties" button in the lower right corner. Click on "set launch options". Please tell us exactly what it says in the text space that appears under "These options are for advanced users only".
Check your other steam games, too. If their launch properties are different, please tell us those properties, and the accompanying game.
stevemurda, something seems wrong with the software environment. Especially cs 1.6 should run at 100+ fps on your system. I suspect that some other process / application is eating CPU time in the background. CrossOver is much more vulnerable to that than other Mac apps are due to the nature of the message passing in Win32 apps.
Can you (a) try to reboot your Mac if you're only putting it to standby when not in use(if you shut it down regularly, there's no need), and use the system monitors to check the CPU usage while the mac is idle? The CPU should be nearly 100% idle when you're not doing anything on your mac.
I am having the exact same problem as Steve on my MacBook Pro, is anyone able to run CS 1.6 with 99 fps through Crossover Games? When I run CS through BootCamp/WinXP, my fps is always at 99, and is never dropping.
